Weekly Buzzz… July 16-22

Super Summer Saturdays continues Join us inside the Museum this Saturday, July 23, for the much-anticipated Sensational Snakes with For Goodness Snakes Adventures. Come and learn about the natural history of these slithery creatures up close and personal! As always, there will be a craft project for kids. We’ll also have a docent on hand to talk about the tidepool touch tank, and ice cream will be available from The Penny Creamery. Don’t miss it: two shows- 10:30 am and 12:00 pm.

Last chance to enter Endangered Neighbors Photo Contest for Kids If you know a child under the age of 18 who loves nature and knows how to use a camera, encourage him or her to enter our photo contest. Find more information here. The deadline to submit entries is August 1.

Check this out, dog owners! Our staff has placed a water bowl in the park behind the Museum for our canine neighbors. Look for it in the garden near the doggie-bag dispenser. Even though dogs aren’t allowed inside the Museum, we want Tyrrell Park to be a welcoming place for our four-legged friends, especially in this summer heat.

Wildlife On the Spot A pod of dolphins was spotted on Thursday from the bluff at the end of Pilkington Street, swimming just beyond Seabright Beach. At least 5 dolphins were seen between the lifeguard tower and the river mouth during a lunchtime feeding frenzy. Next time you’re at the Museum, don’t forget to take a walk along the cliff and watch the ocean for dolphins, whales, birds, sea lions, and sea otters. Tell us what YOU see!
